Above it, orange-red flowers and green leaves are painted over peach lustre, giving the decoration its warmth and depth.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMost tellingly, there is no pouring lip. Arthur Wood borrowed the handle and familiar outline of a jug but turned it into something closer to a vase. This is an uncommon shape, the exaggerated mouth, narrow waist and rounded body make much more sense when seen as decoration rather than practical tableware.
