Vintage British Geraldine Studio Pottery Stoneware Lidded Casserole, 1970s

Product Description
£39.00
Maximum quantity available reached.

This is a smaller British studio pottery casserole, hand-thrown in stoneware and impressed GERALDINE to the base.

The form is simple and practical, with a rounded body, fitted domed lid and a broad collar around the top. The pale grey-beige glaze is finely speckled with warm brown, while the interior is finished in a much darker glaze. Around the body runs a band of impressed circular decoration, giving the pot a little more individuality without making it overly decorative.

At approximately 15.5 cm wide × 14 cm high, this is a compact casserole, useful for smaller quantities, side dishes or serving. It has less visual complexity than some of the larger studio pieces we have looked at, but that is part of its appeal: straightforward, well-made and easy to use.

Cooking and serving food from a hand-thrown casserole makes the whole experience feel a little more special, even when the piece itself is quite modest.

The base carries the impressed GERALDINE mark. I have found another piece with exactly the same stamp and closely related decoration, confirming that this belongs to a recognisable British pottery range, although the potter’s full identity remains unresolved.

Excellent vintage condition.
